James Joyce

What is the fascination with James Joyce and his rubbish book Ulysses. I have the unpleasant task of attending a lunch every year that honours the book. This year we had an added unpleasant surprise in that David Norris recited (yes recited) an unpleasant part from the book. As far as I can see there is only unpleasant parts in that book. It is very sad that he (JJ) and that book is linked to be Irish. Oh to have the reputation of the land of the Saints and Scholars (and monsters) again.
On a lighter note, I was at a table of 9, one person won two tickets to go to The Who, another person won two tickets to go to some other concert and a third person won a DVD player. The Monster didnt win anything (and ate 1 and 1/2 deserts).

Captain Jean Luc Picard likes James Joyce, so his books must be good if they survive to the 25th century

Imagine if there had been no James Joyce... What would Mr Norris do without the book that most normal people can't bear to read...
